Rajavahana reaches the nether-world along with Matanga.
This, therefore, covers only about half the story in
the purvapithika of Dasakumaracarita. Still, it is possible
to glean from the available portion much matter of
historical interest. It is noteworthy that the author
himself gives an indication of the main theme of the
work in the passage,
" प्रतिभातु तवैतदाश्चर्यभूतं सर्वपुरुषार्थोपदेशगुरु सर्वद्वीपवृत्तान्तबहुरसं वकला-
कलापगर्भगम्भीरं सर्वसमयरखसम्भेदसम्मतं *सर्वादिराजवंशवर्णन मनोहरकथं सर्वदेवा-

An anonymous metrical summary of the work by
name Avantisundarikathasara has been published from
Madras by Sri. M. R. Kavi But this is also incomplete.
At the beginning of the work, as in Bara's Harga-
carita, the author has given an autobiographical account
of himself and the circumstances leading to his compo-
sition of the work. These can be summarised as follows:-t
There was at Kancipura, in Southern India, a
king by name Simhavisnu belonging to the Pallava dynasty.
Once a Gandharva came to his court and eulogised
him in the following verse-
" दनुजपतिहृदयभूधर विभेदविज्ञातशक्तिनख कुलिशम् ।
जगदुदयहेतु विष्णोरवतु वपुर्नारसिंहं वः ॥"
